- What sort of microphone can be used with Singtone Studio?
- It is best to use a microphone that you can hold near your mouth and away from the speakers playing the backing music.

Normally, you can use
- standard karaoke microphones,
- Singstar microphones,
- headset microphones, or
- USB microphones
- Webcam microphone (but not at a distance)
if they plug into your computer's microphone or USB inputs.
- You cannot use a hairbrush or a carrot.
- How do I get the microphone level right?
- You should hold the microphone around 4 cm from the side of your mouth (to avoid pops).
- In the Singtone Studio window, you can click on the microphone image to bring up the Flash microphone level adjustment control.
- Talk or Sing at the level you will be singing and watch the meter. Adjust the level so the indicator is mainly moving in the top half of the meter when you sing.
- When you play music, the meter should not be moving very much or not at all.
