Warbly, rough or weird:
Make sure the background music is not getting into your microphone when you record.
Move your microphone away from your speakers and closer to your mouth when you sing (then check your level) or
Turn your speaker playback down when you record or
Use headphones and turn off the speakers when you record
Make sure only one person is recorded at a time.
Noisy (hissy, crackly or "pop" sounds)
Check your microphone is plugged in properly.

Try to not use a built-in microphone or webcam mike.

Check your mike is switched on
Hold the mike 4 cm from the side of your mouth.

* Look for your computer's microphone setting in the computer's Sound Control Panel.
If your voice sounds wrong:
